What we do

Service Provision

Primary Care Network Support

Primary Care Network Support

We have been commissioned in the past to provide a few services but currently we are providing the Enhanced Access Services (historically called the Prime Ministers Challenge Fund and then extended access) on behalf of the four Primary Care Networks in South Manchester:

  • Withington and Fallowfield
  • Didsbury, Chorlton Park and Burnage
  • Brooklands and Northenden and
  • Wytrhenshawe.

As part of this service, we provide GP

consultations (face to face, telephone and video), phlebotomy (bloods) and nurse (long term condition reviews and smears) services in and outside core GP hours (evenings and weekends) with a view that this should be viewed by patients as an extension of what local practices do.

Appointments are booked via the patient's local GP practice and all consultation information is shared back with the practice for them to note or act on.  Any available GP telephone appointments can be booked by NHS111.

As part of this service we were the first Federation that set up direct referrals by the GPs in our service, on behalf of practices, for hospital care.
